They Sent Me Home on the First Day?? (July 31)
Well I had an insanely exciting first week. I get to the airport and say goodbye to my family, the whole shebang and everything. I get to my terminal and I wait to board my airplane and it gets delayed not once... Not two times.... But three times so we will end up missing our connecting flight in LA. So long story short we(7 other elders and I) ended up staying in SLC for the night at a Marriott hotel(mission travel office was treating us good). They got us four rooms for 8 guys. It was amazing.
The next day our new flight was at 7 in the morning so I had to be up at 4 again, two days in a row, not very fun?!? We get loaded onto the airplane and the pilot comes onto the intercom and says that he's got some bad news. All the missionaries start freaking out cause we think that we're gonna miss our connecting flight Again! But luckily the only thing that happened was that the bathroom didn't work until we were at like 50,000 feet above sea level so that was a great blessing in a sense. Then on our next flight some of the missionaries didn't have seats because they downgraded the plane last minute so they were giving away 500$-1000$ vouchers for people who have up their seats. Five minutes before the flight was supposed to leave the last missionary got on the plane Thankfully.
We got to the MTC in Mexico fine, although the drivers down here are absolutely terrifying. I swear we should've gotten into five crashes on the way to the mtc.
I feel very safe in the MTC though, despite the gunshots that go off at a minimum of every twenty minutes around us in the valley we're in.
The mountains here remind me of home even though they're are soooo much smaller. And here we have wild parrots that fly around and annoy the heck outta me when I'm trying to study the scriptures. They won't stop squawking.
The food here is okay. Not the best but not the worst. They had some great enchiladas and always have fresh fruit which is super nice. I tried Nutella on the pizza, surprisingly good?? Don't judge my weird eating habits
I can already hold a ten minute conversation in spanish. Which is easier than you think. All you gotta do is ask one question and then say por que five or six times to get people rambling for a while 😂.
We've already taught a lot of "investigators". It's pretty easy except my Spanish is still struggling so I have to ask them to repeat it every once in a while. Or to slow down. They're having us memorize a bunch of important things so it makes me look like I know Spanish but I know I don't 😂.
I've seen all of my friends who are down here so far. One of them left today which was kinda sad but he sorta got replaced by a different friend I guess...
My district is pretty cool. There's 10 elders and 2 Hermanas. All of them are going to San Antonio except for me so I'm the odd man out. Kinda sad but I'll keep in contact. There's one elder who's absolutely hilarious. Him and my Companion got kicked outta class one day so I had to go with them.
The days are literally all the same with two to three different things a day. We have three different teachers. Two in the morning. One in the night. For me it's pretty boring cause I already know all the grammar and almost always fall asleep. The classes about the gospel are always super cool though.
And Thank you to everyone who emailed me. It helped me get through a tough first week.
The spirit is really strong here I love it. It makes it easier when I get a little homesick or when I miss my friends or family.
Sorry if this was long!
